Carandini presents T-LINE, an innovative lighting linear emergency system for tunnels

T-LINE is the new linear emergency lighting system from Carandini. It is designed to enhance safety in evacuation routes for all types of tunnels or public infrastructures where emergency exit route lighting for pedestrian use is required.

Designed entirely by our team of engineers in Barcelona, it complies with all emergency lighting regulations, including Spanish Royal Decree RD 635/2006, which includes compliance with the UNE EN 60598-2-22 standard for emergency luminaires. This standard requires lighting installed at a height no greater than 1.50 m and a minimum level of 10 Lux across the entire evacuation route platform (sidewalk in tunnels).

INCREASED SAFETY, REDUCED VISUAL FATIGUE AND LOWER CONSUMPTION

This solution is specially designed to provide emergency lighting for 1 hour up to a maximum height of 1.5 m without causing glare to vehicle users or pedestrians, which is crucial in these environments.

Additionally, as it is a continuous system, it completely eliminates the annoying flicker effect often experienced with point-to-point emergency systems. Thanks to these two characteristics (glare-free and flicker-free), T-LINE offers a comfortable, pleasant, and much safer driving experience, reducing drivers’ visual fatigue.

Unlike other emergency solutions, T-LINE is manufactured without glass or diffusers that can fragment or fall, thus eliminating any risk of material detachment ending up on the road and causing accidents.

Another advantage is its high efficiency. Thanks to its cutting-edge LED technology, it guarantees exceptional efficiency and minimal consumption.

FEWER LIGHT POINTS, BETTER RESULTS

Each luminaire consists of 24 interconnectable 2-meter-long modules, which, when joined, form a 50-meter-long linear LED strip. This unique configuration provides continuous, uniform lighting compared to conventional point-to-point systems, which are usually installed every 5-8 meters to comply with regulations. Thanks to its linear format, T-LINE offers the possibility of covering the same length with fewer light points, achieving up to 70% energy savings and a smaller environmental impact.

This configuration also allows for savings in electrical installation costs, as it only requires copper electrical lines every 50 meters to reach the equipment boxes that control the different modules.

Since fewer luminaires are required, with just one covering up to 50 linear meters, this solution is much more sustainable and efficient, and it also offers nearly 100% uniformity, evenly illuminating evacuation routes.

MORE THAN AN EMERGENCY SOLUTION

Its permanent, linear design allows it to be used not only as emergency lighting but also as beaconing and signalling lighting. Its continuous light creates a guide effect that easily directs the user to the nearest emergency exit, maximizing safety in these critical environments.

Aesthetically, this type of light creates a cutting-edge, modern effect that transforms the tunnel into a much more pleasant and visually comfortable space.

90% FEWER MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS

T-LINE is composed of an aluminium profile that incorporates an encapsulated LED strip to prevent water ingress and dirt accumulation, and it allows for high-pressure washing (IP69K). Furthermore, it does not include adhesives or clips, making the replacement of any component easier and tool-free.

The linear nature of the product eliminates the need to incorporate drivers and batteries in each module, reducing maintenance operations by up to 90%. Instead of point-to-point installation, with high maintenance costs in labour, materials, and installation checking time, this product requires one connection box with drivers and batteries for every 50 linear meters, simplifying maintenance tasks and optimizing resources.

The installation is also much simpler and more customizable. Thanks to its angular tilt system, it can be easily oriented according to the measurements and characteristics of each tunnel based on the dimensions of the evacuation routes, adapting to the client’s needs.

UP TO 80% MORE SUSTAINABLE

We have developed the T-LINE solution following the eco-design philosophy, which allows components such as the LED strip to be replaced without having to replace the entire luminaire. This practice reduces waste, extends the product’s lifespan, and promotes a circular economy. At Carandini, we advocate for repair over replacement, and therefore, we design all our products with this premise in mind.

T-LINE is up to 80% more sustainable than other point-to-point emergency luminaires as it requires fewer batteries to cover the same meters of light, a component that is not very sustainable and difficult to recycle.

Additionally, the aluminium profile is adjustable, allowing for precise light direction, improving efficiency, and promoting greener and more ecological lighting.
