Ribadavia Town Hall has won an award at the IX Galicia Energy Awards 2022 for the energy efficiency boost achieved by replacing the street lighting in the city.
The award is presented by the National Association of Industrial Engineers in partnership with the Galician Association of Industrial Engineers to recognise the most outstanding people, companies and entities in the field of energy throughout Galicia during 2021.
THE PROJECT
By installing new LED luminaires and a smart control system, Ribadavia Local Council has made the city more environmentally friendly and sustainable while obtaining an energy saving of 58% and a monetary saving of more than €50,000 per year.
Carandini was one of the companies responsible for supplying and designing the project. In total, more than 1,200 lighting points were installed on roads, amenities and façades.
The URBALITE S luminaire was chosen for the urban spaces. Its simple yet modern design has a low carbon footprint and its versatility means it can be used for all sorts of road spaces.
Two other products were chosen for parks, gardens and other similar spaces. The CENTURY luminaire with its contemporary and elegant look, and the C-LINE luminaire for a minimalist design and simple installation.
MIKOS projectors were also used to light building façades and monuments.
GOALS ACHIEVED
By replacing their street lighting, the residents of Ribadavia can now enjoy more efficient and sustainable lighting with greater uniformity and outstanding visual comfort.
Sertogal S.L. was the engineering firm behind the project and Aopil, S.L. undertook the installation.
