Fira Internacional de Barcelona is one of Europe’s leading trade fair institutions and an international benchmark in the organisation of congresses, trade fairs and professional events. The Gran Via venue, designed to host large-scale events with demanding technical requirements, stands out for its vast open-plan areas, its functionality, and its ongoing commitment to innovation and sustainability.

With the aim of continuing to modernise its facilities, Fira Internacional de Barcelona renewed the lighting in halls 1 and 2, as well as the area beneath the central spine at the Gran Via venue, using high-efficiency LED technology. To deliver this project, it once again relied on ÁMBAR Projectes i Instal·lacions, a company specialising in lighting solutions and a long-standing partner in several lighting upgrade initiatives across the site. Building on the results achieved in previous projects, ÁMBAR once again selected Carandini solutions to transform these key spaces.

IMPROVED ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND REDUCED MAINTENANCE

The pavilions previously operated with a conventional lighting system that involved high energy consumption and required frequent maintenance due to the significant installation heights and the demanding operating conditions typical of a venue of this scale.

In order to improve energy efficiency, optimise lighting conditions and reduce maintenance interventions, Carandini HBL luminaires were installed. This solution has been specifically designed for industrial and high-bay environments, delivering uniform illumination, high visual comfort and excellent energy efficiency.

Thanks to their performance and robustness, HBL luminaires ensure reliable, continuous operation in intensive-use areas, while providing homogeneous light distribution and excellent colour rendering, key aspects in an environment where visual experience and spatial versatility are essential.

A VENUE READY FOR MAJOR EVENTS

The lighting upgrade in halls 1 and 2 and the area beneath the spine has significantly improved the overall lighting quality, creating more comfortable, efficient and sustainable spaces, ready to host top-tier international events under the best conditions for exhibitors, organisers and visitors.

HBL

The HBL GEN2 luminaire by Carandini is designed to provide an effective solution for industrial areas or sports facilities that require efficient and uniform lighting. It offers high durability and high efficiency, and its compact and lightweight design facilitates mounting and installation operations, accelerates heat dissipation and reduces dust accumulation.
