The Constitution Sports Hall, located in the urban centre of Liège (Belgium), is a landmark sports facility that plays an important social role within the city. Its large indoor space is equipped with two modular courts and accommodates a wide range of sports including futsal, basketball, volleyball, tennis, badminton, fencing, boxing and inline skating, welcoming users of different ages and skill levels every day.
Over the years, the existing lighting system, based on fluorescent luminaires, had become obsolete and no longer met the requirements of a multifunctional venue with intensive daily use. The installation presented limitations in terms of both lighting quality and energy efficiency. In addition, it no longer complied with the standards required for the various sports and competitions hosted at the venue and involved high maintenance costs.
EFFICIENCY AND VISUAL COMFORT FOR SPORT
In order to modernise the facility and support its sustainability strategy, the City Council of Liège undertook a complete refurbishment of the sports hall lighting system. The upgrade improved the lighting quality throughout the venue, ensured uniform and comfortable visibility for both athletes and spectators, reduced glare and optimised the building’s energy consumption.
Thanks to its optimised photometric distribution, Active provides excellent uniformity across the entire sports hall, delivering the right amount of light exactly where it is needed and significantly improving visual perception within the space. In addition, it incorporates anti-glare optics with a UGR value below 19, ensuring high visual comfort for both players and spectators.

DIN 57710-13 CERTIFICATION: SAFETY FOR SPORTS FACILITIES
One of the most significant aspects of the project is the use of luminaires certified according to the DIN 57710-13 Sports Hall Ball Test standard, specifically developed for indoor sports facilities. This certification guarantees that the luminaires can withstand ball impacts without suffering damage or compromising their operation or safety.
In multi-purpose sports halls where activities such as basketball, volleyball or futsal are regularly played, luminaires are constantly exposed to direct impacts. For this reason, using certified equipment is essential to ensure the durability of the installation and to avoid incidents or maintenance costs resulting from mechanical damage.
The Active sports high-bay luminaire complies with this certification, confirming its suitability for intensive-use indoor sports facilities.

MORE THAN 50% ENERGY SAVINGS
Beyond the improvement in lighting quality, the refurbishment has significantly reduced energy consumption and maintenance costs. Replacing the old fluorescent fittings, whose availability and maintenance had become increasingly difficult due to their gradual withdrawal from the European market under the EU RoHS regulations, resulted in energy savings of more than 50%, contributing to a more efficient and sustainable management of the facility.
The result is a more efficient, comfortable and future-ready sports venue, fully adapted to the demands of a modern multi-purpose installation. Thanks to our expertise in sports lighting and control systems, the Constitution Sports Hall now benefits from a reliable, high-performance solution that enhances the experience for both athletes and spectators.

Active is a high-efficiency, long-life high-bay luminaire that delivers outstanding performance with fewer fixtures, reducing installation and maintenance costs. Featuring a modular design, anti-glare optics (UGR <19) and ball-impact certification, it is the ideal solution for indoor sports and industrial facilities. It is ready for smart lighting control systems and advanced energy management through Zhaga and Bluetooth Mesh connectivity.
