TALAMANCA BEACH, IBIZA – SPAIN

Ibiza

Located just a few minutes from the centre of Ibiza, Talamanca Beach is a privileged enclave that combines tranquillity and natural beauty close to the city. Its wide bay with crystal clear waters and fine sand makes it the ideal spot for both residents and visitors looking to relax away from the hustle and bustle. In addition to being a gathering place for those who enjoy the sea and scenery, its pedestrian walkway is a key space for leisure and safe travel, especially at night.

THE CHALLENGE: MODERNIZING THE LIGHTING WITHOUT ALTERING THE ENVIRONMENT

To preserve the natural beauty of the beach and provide efficient lighting in an area with limited access to the electrical grid, a solar lighting system was installed some time ago. However, over time, some of the luminaires stopped working, which affected both the safety and experience of visitors. In response to this situation, the Ibiza City Council decided to renew the lighting with a solution tailored to the needs of the surroundings, opting for the Ceres solar luminaire by Carandini.

AN AUTONOMOUS, SMART SOLAR LIGHTING SOLUTION RESISTANT TO SALINE CORROSION

A total of 16 Ceres luminaires were installed. These luminaires are fully autonomous and equipped with motion sensors, along with a marine finish that provides dual protection against saline environments. This coating ensures high resistance to corrosion and an extended lifespan, even in the most demanding conditions. Thanks to the use of motion detection technology, the lighting intensity is automatically adjusted based on the presence of people, increasing to 50% when activity is detected and reducing to 10% when there is no movement. This system optimizes energy consumption without compromising visibility to offer an efficient, durable, sustainable, and comfortable solution for pedestrians.

Beyond its smart functionality, Ceres stands out for its integrated design that incorporates the solar panel directly into the luminaire structure, eliminating the need for additional components. This feature not only enhances the aesthetics of the surroundings but also simplifies maintenance and installation, as no invasive work or alterations to the terrain are required.

RESULTS: GREATER SAFETY, EFFICIENCY AND ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSABILITY

The modernization of the lighting system at Talamanca Beach has transformed the area into a safer, more accessible, and more sustainable space while preserving the natural surroundings. The harmonious integration of the luminaires into the landscape minimizes the visual impact, while their energy autonomy, independent of the electrical grid, reduces consumption and prevents unnecessary CO₂ emissions, helping protect the island’s ecosystem.

With this project, Ibiza reaffirms its commitment to more responsible and high-quality lighting, embracing innovative solutions that ensure safer, more efficient, and environmentally friendly public spaces.

CERES

Equipped with a monocrystalline silicon solar panel and a deep-cycle battery, the Ceres luminaire can operate autonomously for entire days on a single charge, making it the ideal choice for remote regions and areas without access to electricity.
