The town of Noia took the decision to upgrade the public street lighting used in its town centre to LED with a view to improving the energy efficiency of the installation and reducing the environmental impact. The project was carried out with support from IDAE, within the framework of the European Regional Development Fund’s Sustainable Growth Operational Program, which aims to support cities that promote the transition to a low-carbon economy.
The local council’s requirements included not only improving efficiency and energy savings but also limiting night-time light glare, reducing light intrusion and decreasing greenhouse gas emissions.

A MORE ECO-EFFICIENT TOWN
The new installation has been implemented on streets and parks using projectors, ambient luminaires and road solutions supplied by Carandini, designed to reduce light intrusion, eliminate light pollution and promote sustainable lighting. Specifically, the C-LINE solution was used for parks and garden areas, T-MAX and Mikos projectors for roundabouts and buildings, the classic Clamod luminaire for urban spaces in the town centre and Urbalite solution for streets and avenues. Several Retrofit units were also installed in the historic centre and the waterfront to preserve the area’s aesthetics.
In total, more than 1,000 light points operated by 22 control centres have been updated. The renovation was carried out with highly efficient luminaires, with a recyclability percentage of more than 96% and low emission of luminous flux towards the sky (>1%), for minimal environmental impact.

“At Carandini, we have always designed energetically efficient and cutting-edge solutions, focusing not only on light quality and product longevity but also on energy savings and their impact on the planet,” explains Xavi Traveria, the company’s head of R&D.
For the upgrade of the lighting system, Carandini conducted a meticulous lighting project that ensured high uniformity and improved light quality. Safety was also prioritized without causing excessive illumination, resulting in a significant decrease in light pollution.

ANUAL SAVINGS OF OVER €50,000 AND REDUCTION OF 200 TONS IN EMISSIONS PER YEAR
The remodeling of the Noia villa has led to annual savings of over €50,000 for the Town Hall and a reduction of 200 tons of emissions per year into the atmosphere, in addition to minimizing maintenance operations.
Carandini solutions are characterised by being long lasting and robust, extending the service life of installations and bestowing the project a high sustainability index.
Its minimalist style, its simple assembly design and its optical distributions make the C-Line luminaire provide a complete lighting solution.

T-MAX has been designed using the latest in LED lighting, developing a housing that is guaranteed to last for decades within urban environments.
Mikos is the new lighting concept by Carandini that has been designed for all types of urban spaces.

Classic aesthetic luminaire with a wide range of colour temperatures and optical distributions that minimise light pollution and generate harmonious spaces of well-being for people and the environment.
Carandini’s Urbalite family has a simple and modern design that makes it perfectly suited to all types of urban spaces. It provides uniform and highly efficient lighting and is a quality solution for a wide variety of road and urban applications.
