Villemomble is a village located in the Île-de-France region, in the department of Seine-Saint-Denis, northeast of Paris, France. Its history dates back to the 12th century, when it was known for its vineyards and orchards. Today, it is a quiet suburb well-connected to Paris, offering its residents a balance between suburban life and access to the amenities of the capital.
OUTDATED, INEFFICIENT AND POLLUTING PUBLIC LIGHTING
Due to the obsolescence of public lighting, the low percentage of LED technology adoption (with only 10% of lighting modernized) and considering that 41% of energy expenses fall under local authority responsibility, France has been committed for years to a complete overhaul of its outdoor lighting. This renovation has been driven by the creation of public funds and the implementation of legal provisions to achieve more sustainable and efficient outdoor lighting. One of these laws is the Grenelle I, aimed at promoting sustainable development and environmental protection in the country.

To significantly reduce energy consumption, electricity bills, and CO2 emissions, within the framework of the Energy Performance Contract established by Grenelle I, the Villemomble city council decided to modernize the lighting throughout the locality, as well as the management and maintenance services of the facilities.
The city needed a public lighting network that would improve safety with better quality light, create an urban environment stimulating commercial activity, reduce maintenance costs, improve accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists and be ready for the transition to a smart city.
VEKA AND URBALITE, HIGHLY EFFICIENT ROAD LUMINAIRES FOR URBAN ENVIRONMENTS

MORE EFFICIENCY, LESS ENERGY AND REDUCED CO2 EMISSIONS
Thanks to the low consumption of the installed LED luminaires, the City Council will save 50% of energy. Less energy also means fewer carbon emissions into the atmosphere, helping the city to be more sustainable and efficient.
In addition to energy savings, the new lighting has also improved the quality of light in Villemomble, increased the safety of its residents, and transformed the city into a more pleasant place to live, work and enjoy.

LESS INTRUSIVE LIGHT FOR RESIDENTS
Veka and Urbalite luminaires feature a flat glass protector with specific optics to direct light towards the ground and avoid any intrusive light for neighbors. They comply with the requirements established by the 2018 French decree on light pollution, which qualifies these lighting solutions as responsible.
We thank the Villemomble city council, Claude Deniel, head of the road service, and our partner Samuel Douyer from CityMat for highlighting the benefits of our products.
