Blancafort is a charming municipality in the Conca de Barberà region, in the province of Tarragona, Catalonia. Nestled in the heart of the Cister Route, between the iconic monasteries of Poblet and Vallbona, it boasts a rich heritage such as the Church of Santa Magdalena, a late Baroque temple built on the remains of a former Romanesque church, and elegant 18th-century houses such as Can Minguella.

Committed to modernisation and sustainability, Blancafort has embarked on an ambitious street lighting renovation project, replacing traditional luminaires with LED technology. The municipality had already been using Carandini lighting for over 30 years, with the installations still in operation—proof of the quality and durability of our solutions. Thanks to this established trust, the council has once again chosen Carandini for its lighting renewal, optimising energy efficiency and reinforcing its commitment to more sustainable public lighting. Additionally, they decided to connect the luminaires to a remote management system to further reduce costs.

2200K TO PROTECT BIODIVERSITY AND PRESERVE THE NIGHT SKY

Blancafort, with a deep-rooted agricultural tradition and an economy centred around farming, is set in a privileged natural environment surrounded by valuable natural spaces. Aware of the importance of preserving this setting, the municipality has opted for warm 2200K lighting to minimise environmental impact, protect biodiversity and contribute to dark-sky preservation.

Veka and Junior road lighting solutions have been installed at the entrances, while the classic Clamod luminaire has been chosen for the village centre. Meanwhile, the Mikos floodlight has been used to illuminate the Church of Santa Magdalena, enhancing the architectural beauty of this emblematic building.

SMART LIGHTING TO ADAPT TO THE MUNICIPALITY’S REAL NEEDS

All luminaires in Blancafort have been connected to Carandini’s Controlux Basic smart system, which efficiently adjusts lighting to the real needs of the municipality. Thanks to its Power Line Control technology, it uses the existing electrical infrastructure to transmit information, eliminating the need for additional wiring and simplifying installation.

Through its remote management platform, lighting managers can monitor, schedule and adapt illumination, as well as track energy consumption and detect failures in real time. The platform also includes advanced features such as customised scheduling for switching lights on and off and an automatic alert system that notifies incidents via email or SMS, ensuring a faster and more efficient response.

The system enhances public lighting maintenance by immediately detecting faults, reducing intervention times and avoiding unnecessary maintenance team travel. This not only lowers operational costs but also reinforces street safety and improves municipal service quality.
