CITY BEACH CAR PARK, PERTH – AUSTRALIA

City of Cambridge, Perth – Australia

City Beach is one of the most popular coastal destinations in the City of Cambridge, located in the metropolitan area of Perth, southwestern Australia. It is characterised by its paradisiacal white sandy beaches and the imposing presence of high cliffs to the north and south, making it a gathering place for surf enthusiasts and water activities.

Situated alongside the beach is the City Beach Car Park, a highly frequented parking area. Until recently, it was illuminated with high-pressure sodium vapor lamps, an obsolete, inefficient and polluting technology.

With the goal of modernising the lighting to enhance parking safety and promote energy efficiency and sustainability, our partner in Australia, Sii Light, has chosen the LED solution Veka from Carandini. It comes in size M and features a marine finish for increased protection in saline environments.

Another requirement from the Cambridge City Council was to reduce indirect light and direct it where needed, specifically towards the parking area, without affecting the adjacent beach and its valuable ecosystem. This ensures the preservation of the environment and the night sky. To achieve this balance between efficiency and environmental respect, a Dark Sky certified solution has been chosen, Carandini’s Veka, ensuring effective and environmentally responsible lighting.

A SAFER, MORE EFFICIENT AND ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY PARKING AREA

The new lighting system has achieved excellent visibility and uniformity, promoting safety for the local community and tourists. What’s more, the newly installed luminaires direct light to the back of the beach, where the parking area is located, reducing light pollution in the water and protecting marine life.

Thanks to the new lighting, City Beach Car Park is a safer and more attractive area at night, delighting tourists and residents who now feel more secure when leaving their vehicles parked next to one of the most beautiful beaches in Western Australia.

This project would not have been possible without the involvement of the contractor BME Solutions – Commercial Electricians, electrical engineering by Decobu, and our partner Sii Light.
