In the historic centre of Sitges, a city that breathes art, culture, and Mediterranean charm, lighting is not just a functional necessity but a defining element of its urban character. Streets frequented by residents and tourists, façades with architectural value, and a vibrant nightlife required a lighting system capable of enhancing the town’s appeal while replacing the outdated public lighting infrastructure.

Local authorities were looking for a solution that would strengthen the city’s identity, respect its distinctive aesthetics and, at the same time, incorporate efficient technology and durable materials to ensure optimal performance.

AN URBAN DESIGN BUILT FOR COEXISTENCE 

To address this challenge, Carandini proposed the City View lighting pole, a solution that combines architectural design and functionality. Its presence brings elegance and harmony to the urban landscape, integrating seamlessly into the streets and squares without disrupting their essence.

City View stands out not only for its minimalist design but also for delivering precise light distribution and high efficiency. It breaks away from the traditional streetlight pole concept by offering an innovative design that allows you to literally “see the city” through it — hence its name.

It can also integrate other urban elements, such as litter bins, to declutter and enhance the public space. Additionally, it features an anti-urine treatment that ensures durability and facilitates maintenance.

WARM LIGHT AT TWO HEIGHTS TO MEET EVERY NEED

To meet the diverse needs of the area, each pole integrates two Mikos S luminaires at different heights: a 45 W unit oriented towards the road to light vehicular traffic, and a 12 W unit directed towards the sidewalk. This dual arrangement creates a safe environment, improving visibility for drivers while offering a pleasant visual experience for pedestrians.

Moreover, the warm colour temperature (3000 K) enhances the space’s aesthetics, creating a welcoming atmosphere that invites residents and visitors to enjoy the urban environment at night.

A PROJECT THAT HIGHLIGHTS URBAN IDENTITY 

Carandini customized the City View poles with integrated litter bins and columns engraved with the Sitges coat of arms, turning each piece into a unique element that strengthens local identity and fosters a sense of belonging.

The result is a lighting scheme that combines aesthetics, innovation, and efficiency — designed to enhance the experience of those strolling through Sitges at night. It is a project that not only illuminates but also amplifies the beauty of the public space, reinforcing the city’s image as an elegant and unique destination.
