In order to follow new regulations and improve the energy efficiency of the Cerro San Eduardo tunnel (Ecuador), the mayor’s office of Guayaquil decided to replace all the lighting inside the facility with a more efficient and sustainable LED solution.
With a length of 1,330 meters and three lanes in each direction, the Cerro San Eduardo tunnel serves to relieve traffic congestion in the north, northeast and northwest of the city. With around 4,500 vehicles passing through each day during rush hour, it was very important to provide a lighting solution that would ensure complete safety and comfort for all vehicles.
T-MAX
The product chosen for the lighting change was Carandini’s T-MAX projector, a robust and durable projector offering high energy efficiency, excellent uniformity and high visual comfort. In addition, thanks to its modular design and mounting flexibility, it would reduce maintenance operations, leading to fewer traffic closures and disruptions.
Carandini installed a total of 300 T-MAX luminaires of 6,000 and 23,000 lumens with a color temperature of 4,000K.
RESULTS
Thanks to the change of luminaires, the visibility of the tunnel was improved, ensuring a safer and more comfortable driving experience, saving energy, time and money.
The Cerro San Eduardo tunnel is now one of the safest and most sustainable in the country.
T-MAX has been designed using the latest in LED lighting, developing a housing inside that is guaranteed to last for decades in tunnel environments.
