COMMUNE DI QUAGLIUZZO – ITALY

Commune di Quagliuzzo – ITALY

Commune di Quagliuzzo is small village with just over 300 inhabitants, located on the slopes of the Gran Paradiso National Park, in the north of Italy.

Surrounded by nature and having a basically agricultural economy, it needed to update its lighting, consisting of old high-pressure sodium vapour lamps (HPSV), which were not at all sustainable and consumed an excessive amount of power.

REQUIRED OBJECTIVES

The local council had three objectives:  to increase energy efficiency, opting for sustainable lighting and reducing light pollution, ensuring that both dark skies and the quality of life and well-being of the area’s inhabitants were protected.

In order to achieve those goals, it was essential to reduce the amount of scattered light in the atmosphere by reducing the power and flow, as well as directing the light in an optimal manner, to avoid dazzling and light intrusion.

AN EFFICIENT AND NON-POLLUTING SOLUTION

Taking into account the needs of the client, Carandini proposed CLAMOD, an urban solution with a classic aesthetic, using LED technology, at a warm colour temperature of 3000K. That temperature contains a moderate percentage of near-violet waves, causing it to have far less impact on the environment and the well-being of animals.

RESULTS ACHIEVED

The new lighting, installed by our partner in Italy, ARC.LED di Alberico Fornì di Grugliasco (TO), has achieved  more than a 50% of energy savings, a CRI of more than 70 and a reduction in light pollution and atmospheric CO2 emissions.

Thanks to the council’s commitment to non-polluting lighting and also to the lighting studies carried out by Carandini, the citizens of this little village are now able to enjoy a much more efficient space, which is kind both to the environment and to its inhabitants.

CLAMOD

Clamod is Carandini’s luminaire for environmental applications with a classic and urban design.
