The N-432 road, a high-traffic route connecting several key points in the province of Granada, previously had an outdated and inefficient lighting system. Although the discharge system was still operational, it did not provide the necessary lighting quality to ensure optimal visibility, especially at night. Moreover, it did not comply with current regulations and was costly in terms of maintenance and energy consumption.

To address these shortcomings, a comprehensive lighting overhaul was carried out using state-of-the-art lighting solutions from Carandini. In total, more than 200 luminaires were installed, featuring a 4000K colour temperature, providing more efficient and uniform lighting thanks to the neutral white light emitted by the LEDs. Along the road, the Veka road solution was used in different sizes, adapted to the characteristics of each section. For the roundabouts, two types of solutions were chosen: the Athlos projector, designed to provide high uniformity at great heights and the T-MAX projector.

IMPROVED ROAD SAFETY AND 45% IN ENERGY SAVINGS

This project has significantly improved the lighting quality, thereby enhancing road safety, while also achieving a 45% reduction in energy consumption. This saving directly contributes to a reduced carbon footprint, supporting sustainability goals, and also results in a significant reduction in long-term operational costs.

Furthermore, the installation of Carandini LED luminaires with a 4000K colour temperature has optimised visibility on the road, providing white light similar to natural daylight. This type of lighting improves the perception of both drivers and pedestrians, reducing accident risk as well as enhancing the visual experience, making nighttime travel more comfortable and safer.

SMART LIGHTING FOR TOTAL CONTROL

The renovation goes beyond lighting improvement and integrates advanced technology for smart lighting management. In several roundabouts, a lighting control system has been installed that adjusts the light intensity based on traffic volume and environmental conditions, optimising energy consumption without compromising safety.
