The Santa Perpètua Town Council has gone a step further in its commitment to energy efficiency, entrusting Carandini with the renovation of the lighting at the Paco Navarro local football stadium.

Categorised as Class II, this 11-a-side football ground located in the province of Barcelona needed not only to improve the quality of its lighting, but also to considerably reduce both energy consumption and CO2 emissions.

Until now, the pitch had been lit by old, unsustainable metal halide floodlights, which, due to deterioration over time, had seen a decrease in luminous flux, and were therefore less efficient.

A MORE MODERN AND BETTER-LIT SPORTS AREA

Together with the installer Ibetek, Carandini supplied 16 units of the two-module version of the ATHLOS 1200W LED floodlight which has a colour temperature of 4000K.

Designed for lighting sports facilities from high altitudes, the Carandini ATHLOS floodlight has achieved around a 40% reduction in power, improving efficiency and luminosity, and reducing environmental impact. Furthermore, the City Council has made energy savings of 80%, and reduced CO2 emissions to below the minimum required and European standards.

In terms of light emitted, an illuminance level of 224 lux has been attained, with a uniformity of more than 0.80 and a CRI of more than 70 which allows players and fans to enjoy the sport in comfort and guarantees sharp, vivid images.

In the picture below, you can see a clear difference between the football pitch on the right, which was still using an inefficient discharge lighting system, and the one on the left, which has been upgraded and equipped with the new Athlos floodlights.

THINKING AHEAD 

The facility has been provided with DALI 2 floodlights in case, at some point in the future, the Santa Perpètua Town Council might want to install a regulation and control system that would allow the lights to be switched on, switched off and dimmed based on the needs of use at any given time.
