TAPICES DE GOYA PARK, ZARAGOZA – SPAIN

Zaragoza – Spain

As part of the ambitious Reluzes Zaragoza municipal plan, aimed at creating a more efficient, sustainable and environmentally friendly city, Carandini has carried out a complete renovation of the lighting system in Parque Tapices de Goya, one of Zaragoza’s most iconic green spaces, located in Spain.
Reluzes Zaragoza is an initiative promoted by the City Council that includes the renewal of more than 9,600 lighting points across the city. Its goals are to improve the energy efficiency of public lighting, reduce light pollution, decrease CO₂ emissions, and move towards intelligent urban space management through state-of-the-art LED technology and remote management systems.

ULTRA-WARM LIGHT AND ENVIRONMENTAL RESPECT: A STEP FORWARD IN URBAN SUSTAINABILITY

Within this framework, the City Council decided to renew the lighting in Parque Tapices de Goya, located in the Delicias district. This park is a key green lung for residents and visitors, known for its extensive landscaped areas, children’s play zones, pedestrian paths, and leisure and sports spaces. Its design aims to provide a natural and accessible environment in the heart of the city, serving as a community meeting point and a key space for recreation and social life.

For this upgrade, the City Council entrusted Carandini with supplying the new luminaires, replacing the old installation —based on sodium and metal halide lamps— with a modern, efficient LED solution ready to meet future challenges. In total, 165 lighting points have been renewed, including 137 Junior luminaires and 28 Spin luminaires, all specially designed for post-top installation.

The new lighting features an ultra-warm colour temperature of 2200 K, delivering softer, more welcoming illumination, ideal for both urban and natural settings. This warm light plays a key role in reducing light pollution, as it minimises the emission of blue light —the most disruptive for ecosystems and for night sky observation. In this way, it protects local biodiversity, supports human rest, and helps conserve the nocturnal landscape.

CONNECTED TECHNOLOGY FOR A MORE EFFICIENT FUTURE

All luminaires are equipped with D4i drivers and Zhaga connectors, making them fully compatible with remote management systems. Although a control system has not yet been implemented, the project is ready for future integration, enabling intelligent and efficient lighting management.

Through this project, Carandini reinforces its commitment to energy efficiency, technological innovation, and the creation of more sustainable and pleasant urban spaces for citizens.
