The Loire Valley is one of the most beautiful parts of France. It was given UNESCO World Heritage status in 2000 and is known as the “Garden of France” due to its majestic castles, spectacular gardens and historic villages.
It is an essential destination for anyone who enjoys cycling trails and wine. If you have a passion for this beverage, you will no doubt recognise the Chenin, Sauvignon Blanc, Sancerre and Muscadet grape varieties that are grown in the Loire Valley and used to make some of the best white wines in the world.
Located near the Blois, Chambord and Cheverny castles, Soings-en-Sologne is a small rural town of 1,600 inhabitants with some important historic heritage and a fundamentally agricultural economy. They grow asparagus, aromatic plants and strawberries. Alongside the wine, these products give the town a special charm and make it a popular stop for tourists in the region.

COMMITTED TO THE ENERGY TRANSITION
In terms of the energy transition, Soings-en-Sologne needed to modernise the incandescent lighting installed in the town as it was suffering from certain disadvantages: a short lifespan (of 1,000-1,200 hours), significant fragility (vibrations, overvoltage and rapid on-off cycles cause problems) and poorly distributed energy consumption (90% of the power was dissipated as heat).
For all these reasons, the town council began looking for an LED solution capable of offering a lifespan of more than 100,000 hours, very high lm/W performance and a recyclability rate in excess of 95%.
In collaboration with our partner, Ineo, Carandini proposed the CLAMOD luminaire: a 4-sided solution of classic design and LED technology that met all the specified requirements.
LIGHTING DESIGNED FOR THE FUTURE
A total of 271 CLAMOD luminaires were installed, each with 24 LEDs, a colour temperature of 3000K and ZHAGA components. By using standard drivers and PCBs, these luminaires can be constantly updated with the latest technology and recycled or reused at the end of their life cycle, thereby contributing to the circular economy and the sustainability targets set by the town council.
RESULTS ACHIEVED
This new project has achieved a sizeable energy saving, a significant reduction to annual CO2 emissions and a longer product lifespan.
The inhabitants of Soings-en-Sologne now benefit from greater safety and visual comfort when enjoying public spaces in the town with complete peace of mind day or night.

Classic aesthetic luminaire with a wide range of colour temperatures and optical distributions that minimise light pollution and generate harmonious spaces of well-being for people and the environment.
